Cell-engineering centre
A GMP-certified cell-research and cell-preparation centre — the hospital's technological heart.
Boao Lecheng · Hainan, China
A precision-medicine research hospital in the international Boao Lecheng pilot zone — one of the few places in the world with a special legal regime for advanced medicine. Founded in 2015, it runs on a “1+X” model: a single platform unites seven specialist centres — from cell engineering and precision oncology to women's health, rare diseases and a premium check-up.

About the hospital
One of the first hospitals to open in the Boao Lecheng pilot zone; operating to the Tier-3 hospital standard (三级).
Its own campus (40 mu). The cell-engineering centre is the largest cell-research and cell-preparation centre in the zone.
Including 20+ medical technologists, 10+ senior-grade physicians and 50+ nurses.
22 drugs and devices are included in the zone's real-world-data pilot, some already approved — a mechanism for early, lawful access.
Structure
Under one roof — world-class fields built around precision and regenerative medicine.
A GMP-certified cell-research and cell-preparation centre — the hospital's technological heart.
Precise diagnostics and interventional techniques; decisions are made by a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
In partnership with the Hainan Provincial Center for Women's and Children's Health.
Access to drugs approved abroad (FDA / EMA) through the pilot zone's special regime.
Sub-centres: sub-health management, international nutrition, prevention, regenerative aesthetics, reproductive recovery.
Comprehensive diagnostics and personal health management — the first step of any programme.
Support for the nervous system's recovery processes — by indication.
The “1+X” model
The hospital is built on a “1+X” model: one medical platform unites specialist centres and strong institutional partners.
Laboratory
This is the hospital's technological heart. Built in 2017 and certified to GMP standards: an area of 2,460 m² with over 1,000 pieces of equipment from global brands — the largest cell-research and cell-preparation centre in the zone.
Clean rooms of classes A / B / C / D and a cell cryostorage. The research team includes professors from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and experts in cell and gene therapy.
Boao Lecheng
Why what isn't yet available in most markets is available here.
The zone was established in 2013 by a decision of the PRC State Council. In 2020 a dedicated pilot-zone law was adopted: it expressly permits the zone's medical institutions to conduct research and clinical use of stem and immune cells, monoclonal antibodies, gene therapy and tissue engineering (Art. 19), encourages the use of Real-World Data to speed up the registration of drugs and devices (Art. 20), and allows urgent imported drugs to be pre-stored in a bonded warehouse so they can be used immediately after approval (Art. 24).
That is why what isn't yet available at home is available here. According to the zone, 22 drugs and medical devices are included in the real-world-data study, and some have already been approved for use. Through a “green corridor,” innovations approved in the US, EU or Japan arrived here ahead of nationwide registration — from targeted drugs and monoclonal antibodies to treatments for rare diseases.
Access to any drug or method is strictly by medical indication and the physician's decision.
Trust
Access to an advanced method is valuable only when it's backed by discipline and verifiable quality — here are the credentials of the hospital and its infrastructure.
The highest tier in China's hospital classification — managed to the 三级 standard.
Cell preparation to the international GMP standard with multi-stage quality control.
The international standard for the quality and competence of medical laboratories.
Official status and licences in the Boao Lecheng zone, established by State Council decision in 2013.
The hospital's liability-insurance policy — additional legal protection for the patient.
Including a Japanese plasma-purification device (DFPP) and imported equipment admitted through the zone's regime.
The centre's physicians hold their own patents — for example, an implantation needle for micro-sources (2021).
22 drugs and devices in the real-world-data pilot — a mechanism for the accelerated, lawful admission of innovation.
