Cardiology: a second opinion, precise diagnostics and modern methods
When it comes to the heart, the fear is its suddenness — and what decides the outcome is calm precision and time. We help you get both: a strong second opinion on a difficult cardiac decision, modern diagnostics and — by indication — access to advanced methods and devices in the Boao Lecheng cluster. All of this complements your cardiologist and your main treatment. Medical decisions are made by physicians.
⚠️ For acute chest pain, severe breathlessness or a suspected heart attack — call emergency services locally immediately. Do not wait to travel.
Why people come to us
Cardiology means different situations
Most people reach out in one of these. If you recognise yours, what follows explains how we can help.
- A major decision is ahead
Bypass, stenting, valve surgery — you need a second opinion before agreeing.
- You need a method or device unavailable at home
A modern stent, prosthetic valve, device or medicine.
- A complex arrhythmia or valve disease
Where a centre's experience and modern technology matter most.
- After a heart attack
Recovery and a sound plan for further prevention.
- You want to act ahead of the curve
Cardiovascular risk assessment before it becomes a diagnosis.
- You need precise cardiac diagnostics
What a single-moment ECG won't show.
What we take on
More data and more options — for you and your doctors
We do not replace your cardiologist and do not treat online. We help you get a strong second opinion, modern diagnostics and access to methods that may not exist at home.
- A second opinion — an independent review of your ECGs, ultrasound, angiography and records.
- Precise diagnostics — modern imaging and functional cardiac testing.
- Access to advanced methods, devices and medicines — by indication, sooner than at home.
- Interventional and surgical methods — as decided by the heart team.
- Prevention and risk assessment — for those who like to act ahead.
- Rehabilitation and coordination — interpreting, paperwork, logistics, a coordinator.
Which conditions we help with
A broad range of cardiology areas
The specific approach is always decided by physicians based on examination.
- Coronary artery disease (CAD), angina, and after a heart attack
- Arrhythmias — including atrial fibrillation
- Heart failure
- Heart valve disease
- Arterial hypertension, including resistant cases
- Prevention and high cardiovascular risk
Precise cardiac diagnostics
A standard ECG shows only part of the picture
Modern cardiac diagnostics see far more — and over time, not just at the moment of recording.
- Echocardiography (heart ultrasound) — the heart's structure and function, valves, ejection fraction.
- Continuous monitoring — Holter ECG and blood-pressure monitoring — catches what a single recording misses.
- Stress testing — stress test and stress echo: how the heart behaves under load.
- CT coronary angiography and calcium score — the state of the coronary arteries without intervention.
- Cardiac MRI — detailed assessment of the heart muscle and scarring.
- Coronary angiography — the 'gold standard' when indicated.

Access to methods and devices
Stents, valves and devices — sooner than at home
Boao Lecheng is the only zone in China where, by decision of the State Council, clinics may use overseas medicines and medical devices already approved abroad but not yet registered in the rest of China — when there is a clinical need.
For cardiology this is especially valuable: modern stents, prosthetic valves, devices and medicines may become available here sooner than at home. Whether a specific method suits you is decided by a physician. We help you learn about the possibility and arrange access, by indication.
Interventional and surgical cardiology
Much is now done minimally invasively — through a small puncture, without major surgery
- Stenting (PCI) — restoring blood flow in a narrowed coronary artery.
- TAVI — aortic valve replacement via a catheter, without opening the chest — an option for those for whom open surgery is too heavy.
- Ablation — eliminating the source of a rhythm disturbance.
- Device implantation — pacemakers and other devices, by indication.
Everything is strictly by indication and decided by the heart team.
Modern drug therapy
Not everything in cardiology is solved by a procedure
In many cases the foundation is well-chosen medication. Cardiology pharmacology has advanced greatly in recent years: new agents for cholesterol control (including PCSK9 inhibitors), rhythm, blood pressure and heart failure. Some of the newest medicines may be available in the zone sooner — by indication. The right therapy can sometimes avoid or postpone surgery.
Prevention and early detection
The smartest strategy is to see the risk in advance
A heart attack is often the 'first and last' symptom: a person feels perfectly well — until one day it is too late.
- Cardiovascular risk assessment using modern scores.
- Coronary artery calcium score — reveals hidden atherosclerosis long before symptoms.
- Extended lipid profile, biomarkers and vascular imaging.
This lets you act while the problem is still reversible — not treating a catastrophe, but preventing it. More — the check-up programme.
Regenerative methods
Honestly, within the frame
Cellular and regenerative approaches for the heart — for example, supporting recovery of the heart muscle after a heart attack — are a field of active research worldwide, not a ready 'cure for the heart'. Here they are considered strictly by indication and as a complement to the main treatment, not instead of it; there is no guarantee of outcome, and cardiologists decide. On cellular medicine overall — a separate page.
Rehabilitation and recovery
After a heart attack or surgery, sound cardiac rehabilitation matters
Gradual, supervised recovery. In the calm tropical climate of Hainan it goes more gently: measured activity, monitoring, support.
Where and who
The cluster's specialist cardiovascular centre
Cardiac care in the cluster is concentrated in a specialist cardiovascular centre (the Cardiovascular Institute, Boao Super Hospital / 博鳌超级医院).
- Experience and level — the centre performs complex coronary interventions (including chronic total occlusions), structural heart procedures and TAVR; it was the first in Asia to use the TriGUARD3 cerebral protection system during valve replacement. Departments are led by leading specialists, including academicians.
- A heart team — decisions on serious cases are made collectively — cardiologist, interventional cardiologist, cardiac surgeon and an imaging specialist.
- A modern cath lab — a catheterisation laboratory and world-class diagnostics.
We are an independent coordinator: we help arrange access to the cluster's specialist clinics and handle paperwork, interpreting and the whole journey. Medical care is delivered by the centre's physicians.
How we help
A calm, clear pathway
- 11. You send your documents
ECGs, ultrasound, angiography and records — confidentially.
- 22. An independent second opinion
We arrange a review by specialist cardiologists — usually within a few days.
- 33. A diagnostics plan
If needed — in-depth cardiac diagnostics.
- 44. Discussing the options
A review of possible paths with the doctors; coordination, interpreting, logistics.
- 55. Alongside your own doctor
Everything complements your cardiologist at home, it does not replace them.
Important and honest
The boundaries we state plainly
- ⚠️ In acute symptoms — severe chest pain, heavy breathlessness, suspected heart attack or stroke — call emergency services locally immediately. Do not wait to travel: every minute counts.
- We are not a medical institution, we do not diagnose online and do not treat remotely.
- Standard treatment is the foundation and must not be delayed.
- Regenerative and cellular methods are by indication and complement the main treatment, not replace it. Decisions are made by cardiologists, with no guarantee of outcome.
- An honest prognosis is always given only by the treating physician.
FAQ
The essentials, briefly
A decision about your heart should not be made alone or in a rush. From your first message, a coordinator is beside you — calmly, confidentially and on your side.
Start with a second opinion
Send your ECGs, ultrasound, angiography and records — confidentially. We'll arrange a review by specialist cardiologists and tell you what options exist in your case.
