Boao Evergrande International Hospital

Boao Evergrande International Hospital has the largest infrastructure in our selection and is the only one with full radiotherapy. It opened on 28 February 2018, and on 16 November of the same year the Hainan provincial health commission granted it the status of a Tier-3 cancer hospital.

The building was designed and constructed to JCI standards: patient pathways, zoning and departmental logistics all follow a patient-centred principle. The precise word matters: this is design to JCI standards, not JCI accreditation — the difference is real, and we do not blur it.

Scale: a 121.8 mu site with 110,000 m² in phase one. The medical building has single rooms only, 223 beds. A separate recovery building holds 190 apartments and 424 places. Sixteen departments: medical and surgical oncology, general internal medicine, ENT, radiotherapy, intensive care, the imaging centre, anaesthesiology, the operating suite, the health management centre, pathology, the laboratory and others.

Equipment runs to 359 units. The key items: a new-generation Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator for precision radiotherapy, a Siemens Biograph mCT-20 PET-CT, a Siemens MAGNETOM Skyra 3.0T MRI, a GE Discovery CT590 RT wide-bore CT, mammography, a 128-slice CT and a 3D laparoscopy system. A separate department handles extracorporeal blood purification.

From materials gathered on site at the hospital: the extracorporeal blood purification department is one of its specialist directions, using device-based methods to work with blood composition, including procedures to reduce lipid levels and viscosity. Indications are determined by a physician after the work-up. Digital diagnostics is developed separately: image-analysis systems using artificial intelligence, in particular for assessing the lungs.
