Ciming Boao International Hospital

A first-wave hospital of the zone, founded by Dr Han Xiaohong, who built one of China's largest preventive health-screening networks. Since 2022 it also carries a second name — Lecheng Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University. It has obtained official approval from the zone's regulator for a cellular technology to treat premature ovarian insufficiency.

About the hospital

Ciming Boao International Hospital: what sets it apart

Approved technology for POI

Ciming Boao International Hospital grew out of China's largest preventive-screening culture: its founder, Dr Han Xiaohong, built one of the country's biggest check-up networks. Hence the hospital's character — a strong diagnostic school combined with work on new biomedical technologies.

In October 2022 the hospital signed a brand-authorisation agreement with the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University and gained a second official name — Lecheng Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University. It was the first "special concession for a medical institution" model in China: the clinic operates under the name and methodological oversight of the province's leading university hospital.

What sets the hospital apart today: it has obtained official approval from the zone's regulator for the use of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell therapy for premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) — document 乐医药监〔2025〕62号, August 2025. The method: transvaginal puncture and targeted injection of cells into the ovarian stroma. The registered price is published by the regulator — 80,000 yuan.

In the zone's published catalogue of technologies approved for clinical application the hospital has two projects: POI and type 2 diabetes (umbilical cord MSCs, 58,000 yuan). The boundary matters: approval for clinical application is admission within a legal framework, not proof of efficacy. For diabetes the evidence base is early, and we say so plainly.

When it is chosen

The cases where the route leads here

The clinic is matched to the case. These are the situations in which this particular strength becomes the deciding factor.

  • The request concerns premature ovarian insufficiency or early ovarian decline
  • Women's health and reproductive medicine
  • A strong diagnostic base with a proper follow-up review is needed
  • It matters to you that the technology is applied under an official approval

Key facts

What is actually here

  • A POI approval — among China's first

The Boao Lecheng medical products administration has conditionally approved the use of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell therapy for premature ovarian insufficiency (POI). Document 乐医药监〔2025〕62号; the approval is conditional and requires further technical assessment.

  • Operating inside the zone's legal framework

The clinical application of new biomedical technologies is governed by PRC State Council Order No. 818 and the Boao Lecheng zone regulations — both displayed within the hospital itself.

  • A research base

The hospital publishes clinical data and works with scientific centres. Cell therapy for type 2 diabetes is treated here as a research direction.
